The 50th Annual Washington University Obstetrics and Gynecology Symposium is planned and implemented interprofessionally by physicians and nurses. This activity is designed for obstetricians and gynecologists, primary care physicians and nurses and nurse practitioners, but may be of interest to physician assistants, pharmacists, social workers, midwives, students, residents, fellows, and those who care for patients in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

This two day course will provide education through lectures, case presentations, panel discussions, question & answer sessions about important topics in Obstetrics and Gynecology. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of key topics in Gynecology, focusing on the management of women's health issues from adolescence to menopause. Expert speakers from across obstetrics and gynecology and adjacent specialties will cover a range of important topics largely focusing on surgical aspects of obstetrics and gynecology cervical cancer screening updates, advances in fertility management, genetics, contraception, and pelvic floor disorders.

Surgical Skills Workshop in the WISE Lab (optional $100 add fee)
Elevate your surgical expertise with our comprehensive Surgical Skills Course, designed specifically for advanced gynecological procedures. Enhance your proficiency with hands-on training and expert-led workshops in Laparoscopic Suturing, Morcellation via the ExCITE Technique, Ovarian Cystectomy, OASIS Repair, and Anterior Entry for a Vaginal Hysterectomy.

This hands-on skills workshop for Physicians, focuses on minimally invasive techniques, innovative tissue extraction, precise cyst removal, effective perineal tear repair, and safe vaginal hysterectomy procedures to improve patient outcomes and surgical efficiency. Spaces are limited. 


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify gaps in current surgical practice and apply innovative techniques to improve operative outcomes in obstetrics and gynecology.
  2. Integrate current evidence based models into the multidisciplinary management of placenta accreta spectrum to improve maternal outcomes.
  3. Apply updated clinical strategies for assessing and managing obesity in reproductiveaged patients to reduce associated health risks.
  4. Implement contemporary, evidencebased approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of perinatal conditions to optimize patient care.
  5. Incorporate advances in cancer genetics into clinical practice for earlier identification and personalized treatment planning in gynecologic oncology.
  6. Evaluate the evolution and current advancements in in vitro fertilization to guide patient counseling and treatment selection.
  7. Demonstrate enhanced proficiency in minimally invasive surgical techniques to improve patient recovery and reduce complications.
