Overview
2026 Patient Safety & Quality Symposium is planned and implemented inter-professionally by nurses, doctors and a pharmacist. This activity is designed for nurses, doctors and pharmacists but may be of interest to respiratory therapists, physical therapists, EMTs, coordinators in the health field, psychologists, social workers and students. This live, in-person event will provide education through lectures and questions & answer sessions. The symposium will explore current best practices in patient safety, examine ongoing challenges in healthcare delivery, and reflect on progress since the 2001 Crossing the Quality Chasm report, highlighting strategies to enhance outcomes, minimize errors, and promote team-based, high-quality care.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Summarize recommendations from the 2001 Crossing the Quality Chasm report and relevance for current and future learnings for Patient Safety & Quality programs
  2. Describe Patient Safety II and potential ways to integrate and support existing safety management practices in healthcare
  3. Illustrate application of Aftificial Intelligence and Epic utilization to support clinical processes
  4. Develop action plans to implement evidence based patient safety and quality improvement practices in the clinical settings.
