Overview
The 18th Annual Sports Medicine Update is planned and implemented interprofessionally by physicians, physial therapists (PTs), athletic trainers (ATCs), and nurses (RNs). This activity is designed for physicians, PTs, ATCs, RNs, and those interested in sports medicine and involved in care of the athlete. The activity will be held on May 8, 2026, and is a continuing medical education activity for healthcare provider who care for pediatric athletes. This one-day in-person course will provide education through lectures, case presentations, and question & answer sessions. The activity will highlight best practices across pediatric and adolescent sports medicine. The goal of this activity is to enhance knowledge, skill, performance and care of the young athlete.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge of operative and nonoperative treatment approaches for pediatric osteochondral lesions to develop patient specific care plans.
  2. Assess and differentiate between rheumatologic and musculoskeletal causes of pain in young athletes to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective management.
  3. Evaluate the indications for orthobiologics in young athletes to optimize treatment outcomes and enhance recovery.
  4. Utilize MSK ultrasound for the accurate diagnosis and effective treatment of injuries and pain.
  5. Provide comprehensive counseling to patients, coaches, and families on the efficacy and proper use of protective equipment for head injuries to enhance safety and prevention.
