Overview
Advances in Oncology & Hematology is planned and implemented inter-professionally by physicians, nurses and pharmacists. This live in-person activity is designed for medical oncologists, hematologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, internists, hospitalists, general and family practice physicians, nurses, pharmacists but may be of interest to physician assistants and other health professionals who care for cancer patients. This course will provide education through lectures with Q&A time and case-based discussions. The course will provide an overview of the recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of solid tumors and hematologic malignancies, including treatment with bispecific antibodies and cellular therapies. The case-based discussions will facilitate integration of these advances into routine clinical practice. The meeting will include a patient panel discussion. The goal of this activity is enhanced knowledge, competence, performance and patient care.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Implement recent advances in management of hematologic malignancies in the development of treatment plans to provide state-of-the-art care to patients.
  2. Recognize and describe the unresolved issues that are a focus of ongoing research in the management of hematologic malignancies
  3. Interpret recent and emerging data from key studies in clinical and translational cancer research for solid tumors including cancers of lung, breast, prostate, pancreas, colon and melanoma and incorporate into care practices to enhance patient outcomes
  4. Discuss appropriate patient selection for targeted therapies and immunotherapy for solid tumors and management of common toxicities
  5. Include new evidence as appropriate when developing innovative clinical strategies to improve patient outcomes
