The Wash U Cardiology Forum is planned and implemented interprofessionally by cardiologists, advanced cardiology practice providers, and pharmacists. The activity is designed for cardiologists, advanced practice providers, and pharmacists, but may be of interest to primary care physicians and physician associates with an interest in cardiology. This Live activity will provide education through lectures, case presentations, panel discussions, interactive sessions, and open discussions. This activity will highlight best practices across general cardiology, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, heart failure, global health, and valvular heart disease. The goal of this activity is to enhance knowledge, skills and strategy, performance and patient care.

For additional information and questions please contact Heather De Gortari.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe evidence based strategies for the prevention of heart disease, including hypertension and lipid management, and evaluate the appropriate use of nonstatin therapies in patients at risk for cardiovascular events.
  2. Explain the role of coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) in the screening and risk assessment of coronary artery disease.
  3. Cite how imaging guidance is used to optimize percutaneous revascularization in patients with coronary artery disease, including selection of lesions and assessment of procedural outcomes.
  4. Identify emerging therapeutic strategies, including GLP1 receptor agonists and other novel agents, for managing cardiometabolic disease in patients with heart failure to improve clinical outcomes.
  5. Evaluate current evidence and guideline recommendations regarding the timing of intervention for aortic stenosis, including considerations for treating patients before the onset of symptoms.
  6. Restate the indications, types, and clinical applications of mechanical circulatory support in critically ill cardiac patients to improve hemodynamic stability and outcomes.
  7. Summarize essential knowledge about the diagnosis, management, and long term care considerations of adults and children with congenital heart disease and incorporate into patient care plans.
  8. Appraise the clinical indications, benefits, and limitations of left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) devices to determine which patients are most likely to benefit from this therapy.
  9. Interpret recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of transthyretin (ATTR) cardiac amyloidosis and apply strategies to optimize patient care and outcomes.
  10. Review current applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare, including cardiovascular care, and evaluate its potential to enhance clinical decision making, workflow efficiency, and patient outcomes.
