Overview
The Clinician Partners' Program (CPP) is part of the Knight ADRC's rural and underserved populations educational outreach initiatives funded by the National Institute on Aging (P30 AG066444). The CPP is structured as a 1.5-dayintensive course for health professionals (MD, DO, APN, NP, MSN, possibly some BSN) who serve older adults living in rural and metro areas of Missouri and metro-adjacent Illinois. This 12.5 hours live course will provide education through lectures, case presentations, panel discussions, question & answer sessions. The primary goal of the CPP is to enhance local dementia-related diagnosis and care by educating a select group of clinicians in up-to-date diagnostic and treatment techniques. An important emphasis of the CPP is early detection and treatment of Alzheimer disease. This activity is designed to enhance knowledge, skills, strategies and performance to enhance patient care.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Implement early dementia diagnostic tools (blood test, CSF testing, referral for PET imaging) into their routine medical screenings for individuals age 60 and older who present without memory complaints.
  2. Implement the AD8 dementia screening tool into their age 65and older annual wellness exam.
  3. Describe at least 3 services offered by the Alzheimer's Association and know how to make patient referrals to the Alzheimer's Association 24hourHelpline and Greater Missouri Chapter.
  4. Recognize 2types of AD biomarkers, the means by which they are tested identified, and how interested patients can access the tests for diagnostic purposes.
  5. Employ and discuss with families the state provided tools (MO Form 4319 Driver Condition Report and MO Form 1528 Physician's Statement) to make sure patients are able to continue to drive so long as they have capacity to do so safely. Clinicians will also understand how families can arrange for Driver Safety Assessments through a local Veteran's Administration or occupational therapist.
  6. Know about and understand how to educate staff and patients about the new federal GUIDE program that can provide care management and modest reimbursement to families affected by dementia
  7. Understand newly FDA approved disease modifying therapies for AD, the appropriate window during which they are the most effective, and how their local patients can access the treatments.
